Description
A quick and flavorful stir-fried chicken dish with garlic and vegetables.
Ingredients

- 1 lb chicken breast tenders, cut into ½-inch-thin strips
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- ¼ tsp ground white pepper
- 2 tbsp peanut oil or vegetable oil, divided
- 5–6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger
- 1 tsp red chili flakes
- ½ cup roughly chopped red onion
- A handful of snow peas, trimmed
- ½ red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tsp Chinese rice wine or dry sherry (optional)
- ½ tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp cornstarch
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken with sesame oil and white pepper for 15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry until cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining oil.
- Add garlic, ginger, and red chili flakes. Cook for 30 seconds.
- Add onion, snow peas, and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix rice vinegar, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, rice wine, brown sugar, and cornstarch.
- Add the chicken back to the pan and pour the sauce over it.
- Stir well until sauce thickens and everything is coated.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- Adjust the spice level by adding more or fewer chili flakes.
- Serve with rice or noodles for a complete meal.
