Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225g) chicken breast, sliced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha (or your favorite hot sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chicken and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the garlic, ground ginger, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add the bell peppers and cook until they are tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, Sriracha, and cornstarch.
  6. Pour the sauce over the chicken and peppers. Stir well to coat.
  7. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with toasted sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Adjust the spiciness by adding more or less Sriracha.
  • Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
