Hearty Deep-Dish Pie with Hamburger, Sausage, and Pepperoni

- 2 ready-made pie crusts (for a deep-dish pan)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- ½ pound ground beef
- ½ pound Italian sausage, casings removed (optional)
- 1 cup pepperoni slices, divided
- 1½ cups pizza sauce or marinara
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or provolone cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (for brushing crust)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 3 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing top crust)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a skillet, cook ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes to the meat mixture. Stir well.
- Place one pie crust in the deep-dish pan.
- Layer half of the mozzarella cheese on the bottom of the crust.
- Add half of the meat mixture and half of the pepperoni slices.
- Add the remaining mozzarella cheese and the cheddar or provolone cheese.
- Top with the rest of the meat mixture and remaining pepperoni slices.
- Cover with the second pie crust and seal the edges.
- Brush the top crust with melted butter and garlic powder.
- Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Let the pie cool for 5-10 minutes before serving for easier slicing.
