Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Extra granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the molasses and egg, mix well.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  6. Roll dough into balls and coat in granulated sugar.
  7. Place on a baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set.
  9. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
