- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Extra granulated sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the molasses and egg, mix well.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
- Roll dough into balls and coat in granulated sugar.
- Place on a baking sheet, spacing them apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are set.
- Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
- For a spicier flavor, increase the amount of ground ginger.
- These cookies can be frozen for later enjoyment.
