- 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1¾ cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- ¼ cup olive oil (plus more for greasing and drizzling)
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary or thyme (optional, for garnish)
- Flaky sea salt for topping (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, olive oil, garlic, and Parmesan cheese. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Transfer the dough to a greased baking sheet. Press it out to fit the pan.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with flaky sea salt and herbs if using.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a stronger garlic flavor, add more minced garlic.
- You can use other cheeses instead of Parmesan if preferred.
- This bread is best served fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
