- 2–3 very ripe bananas (about 1 cup mashed)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted (or vegetable oil for a lighter version)
- ¾ cup sugar (white, brown, or a mix)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- ½ cup chocolate chips (optional, for a sweeter variation)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
- Mix in the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in walnuts or chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
