Description
Cheese-Stuffed Pretzels are soft, chewy pretzels filled with a blend of cheddar and mozzarella cheese, perfect for snacking.
Ingredients
- Warm Water: 1 1/2 cups, at 110°F (45°C)
- Granulated Sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Active Dry Yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet)
- All-Purpose Flour: 4 cups
- Salt: 1 teaspoon
- Baking Soda: 1/4 cup (for dough), 2/3 cup (for pretzel bath)
- Egg: 1 large, beaten
- Cheddar Cheese: 1 cup, shredded
- Mozzarella Cheese: 1/2 cup, shredded
- Coarse Salt: For sprinkling
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour, salt, and baking soda to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for 1 hour, covered with a cloth.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into equal pieces and flatten each piece. Add cheese filling and shape into pretzels.
- Bring water to a boil and add baking soda. Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds.
- Place boiled pretzels on baking sheets, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
