Description
A sweet and sticky treat made with dough balls coated in cinnamon sugar and layered with fresh blueberries.

- 1/2 cup warm milk (105-115°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted (for coating)
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2–3 tablespoons milk or cream (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add sugar, melted butter, egg, vanilla, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon for the coating.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small pieces.
- Roll each piece into a ball, then dip in melted butter and coat in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Layer the dough balls in a greased bundt pan with fresh blueberries in between.
- Let the pan sit for 20 minutes to rise again.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- If using glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Allow the monkey bread to cool slightly before drizzling with glaze.
Notes
- Use fresh blueberries for best flavor.
- For a richer taste, add more cinnamon to the coating.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
