Description
Delicious banana bread cinnamon rolls topped with browned butter cream cheese frosting and candied walnuts.

- 4 to 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 (.25-oz. pkg.) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup butter, cut up
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup mashed ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 medium banana, chopped
- 6 Tbsp. butter (for frosting)
- 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. milk (if needed)
- 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped (for candied walnuts)
- 2 Tbsp. sugar (for candied walnuts)
- 1/2 Tbsp. butter (for candied walnuts)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, milk, cut butter, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- Knead the dough until smooth. Let it rise until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough and spread mashed bananas, softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon on top.
- Sprinkle chopped banana evenly over the filling.
- Roll the dough tightly and slice into rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise again.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- For the frosting, beat together butter and cream cheese until creamy.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla; mix until smooth. Adjust consistency with milk.
- Prepare candied walnuts by melting butter, mixing with sugar and walnuts, then toasting lightly.
- Frost the warm rolls and top with candied walnuts.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
- Adjust sugar based on personal sweetness preference.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
