Description

Delicious banana bread cinnamon rolls topped with browned butter cream cheese frosting and candied walnuts.


Ingredients

  • 1 (.25-oz. pkg.) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup butter, cut up
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 medium banana, chopped
  • 6 Tbsp. butter (for frosting)
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. milk (if needed)
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped (for candied walnuts)
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar (for candied walnuts)
  • 1/2 Tbsp. butter (for candied walnuts)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, yeast, milk, cut butter, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
  2. Knead the dough until smooth. Let it rise until doubled in size.
  3. Roll out the dough and spread mashed bananas, softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon on top.
  4. Sprinkle chopped banana evenly over the filling.
  5. Roll the dough tightly and slice into rolls.
  6. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise again.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. For the frosting, beat together butter and cream cheese until creamy.
  9. Add powdered sugar and vanilla; mix until smooth. Adjust consistency with milk.
  10. Prepare candied walnuts by melting butter, mixing with sugar and walnuts, then toasting lightly.
  11. Frost the warm rolls and top with candied walnuts.

  • Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
  • Adjust sugar based on personal sweetness preference.
