- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 2 cups milk, warmed to lukewarm
- 1 and 1/4 cups (150 g) confectioners’ sugar, sifted
- 4 eggs, yolks and whites separated
- 1 tablespoon purified water
- 1 cup (115 g) all-purpose flour, sifted
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Confectioners’ sugar for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter and warm milk.
- Add the confectioners’ sugar and mix until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg yolks with water, then add to the butter and milk mixture.
- Sift flour into the mixture and stir until combined.
- Gently fold in the egg whites until just incorporated.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes until the top is golden.
- Let it cool and dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving.
Notes
- Let the cake cool completely before cutting.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
- Try adding a hint of lemon zest for extra flavor.
