A sweet and crunchy snack mix perfect for parties or gifts. Combines Chex cereal, nuts, and pretzels with a rich toffee coating.


Ingredients

  • 12.8 oz box Rice or Corn Chex Cereal
  • 3 cups assorted nuts (pecans, almonds, peanuts, etc.)
  • 3 cups pretzel thins (or mini knots)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups dark brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F.
  2. Combine Chex cereal, nuts, and pretzels in a large bowl.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil.
  5. Boil for 4 minutes without stirring.
  6. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and baking soda, stirring quickly.
  7. Pour the toffee mixture over the cereal mix. Toss to coat evenly.
  8. Spread on a baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  9. Let cool completely before breaking into pieces.
