Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk (or almond milk for dairy-free)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix strawberries with ½ cup of sugar. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining sugar.
  4. Add milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  5. Pour half of the batter into a greased baking dish.
  6. Spread the strawberries over the batter.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining batter over the strawberries.
  8. Add cream cheese cubes on top.
  9. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let cool before serving.
