- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, finely diced
- 1 celery stalk, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 cup chicken or seafood stock
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon wedges
- Cooked white rice, grits, or crusty bread
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the shrimp with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add shrimp and cook until pink, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and add olive oil.
- Add onion, bell pepper, and celery. Sauté until soft.
- Add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, thyme, oregano, stock, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper.
- Simmer the sauce for 5-7 minutes.
- Add shrimp back to the skillet and stir to coat in the sauce.
- Cook until heated through, about 2 minutes.
- Serve garnished with parsley, lemon wedges, and your choice of rice, grits, or bread.
Notes
- Adjust the heat by modifying the cayenne pepper and hot sauce.
- Serve immediately for best flavor.
