Soft Sugar Cookies Dressed for the Holidays
Ingredients

- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp milk (or heavy cream for extra soft cookies)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Christmas sprinkles (red, green, white, gold, etc.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined.
- Stir in milk or heavy cream until the dough is soft.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Let cookies cool on a wire rack.
- For the glaze, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
- Spread the glaze on cooled cookies and top with sprinkles.

- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Use heavy cream for an extra soft texture.
