Soft Maple Sugar Cookies with Maple Icing
Ingredients

- 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp maple extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 3 tbsp pure maple syrup (for icing)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for icing)
- 1/4 tsp maple extract (for icing)
- A pinch of kosher salt (for icing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and maple extract. Mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until combined.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden.
- Let cookies cool on a wire rack.
- To make the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, maple extract, and salt.
- Drizzle icing over cooled cookies.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- Cookies can be frozen for up to three months.
- Adjust icing consistency with more sugar or syrup as needed.
