Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 11/4 lbs Italian sausage or ground beef
  • 1 (24-oz) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 2 (8-oz) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 (24-oz) container cottage cheese
  • 1 (8-oz) block of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 lb mozzarella cheese slices
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. Brown Italian sausage or ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, beaten egg, and parsley.
  6. Layer noodles, meat sauce, cheese mixture, and mozzarella slices in a baking dish.
  7. Repeat layers, ending with mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use lean ground turkey and reduced-fat cheeses.
  • Can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking.
