- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- ½ cup breadcrumbs for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour and mustard powder; cook for 1 minute.
- Slowly whisk in the milk until the mixture thickens.
- Add the shredded cheese and stir until melted and smooth.
- Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni.
- Transfer to a baking dish, and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top if desired.
- Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

- For extra flavor, add spices like paprika or garlic powder.
