Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the flour and mustard powder; cook for 1 minute.
  4. Slowly whisk in the milk until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add the shredded cheese and stir until melted and smooth.
  6. Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni.
  7. Transfer to a baking dish, and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top if desired.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
