Description

A rich and moist German Chocolate Poke Cake with layers of chocolate and coconut.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
  4. Add milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix well.
  5. Stir in boiling water until combined. The batter will be thin.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Once baked, poke holes in the cake with a fork.
  9. Pour sweetened condensed milk over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  10. Mix shredded coconut and chopped pecans, then spread over the cake.
  11. Top with chocolate frosting before serving.
