A hearty French onion ground beef casserole that’s comforting and easy to make.

- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ½ to 1 teaspoon garlic salt, to taste
- 2 (10.5-ounce) cans beef consommé
- 2 (10.5-ounce) cans French onion soup
- ¾ cup water
- 2 cups uncooked long grain white rice
- ¾ cup butter, cut into slices
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat.
- Drain excess fat and add garlic salt.
- In a large bowl, combine beef, beef consommé, French onion soup, water, and rice.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
- Dot the top with butter slices.
- Cover and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove cover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
Notes
- Adjust garlic salt according to your taste.
- For added flavor, consider adding sautéed onions.
