Crispy Mini Blooming Onions are a delicious appetizer with a crunchy exterior and tender onion inside.

- 4 small onions
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Peel the onions and cut off the tops and bottoms.
- Make a crisscross pattern on each onion, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk eggs and buttermilk together.
- Dip each onion into the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture.
- Coat each onion with breadcrumbs.
- Place the onions on a baking sheet and spray with cooking spray.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
- Try adding different spices to the flour mixture for variety.
