Description

Crispy Mini Blooming Onions are a delicious appetizer with a crunchy exterior and tender onion inside.


Ingredients

  • 4 small onions
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel the onions and cut off the tops and bottoms.
  3. Make a crisscross pattern on each onion, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  5. In another bowl, whisk eggs and buttermilk together.
  6. Dip each onion into the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture.
  7. Coat each onion with breadcrumbs.
  8. Place the onions on a baking sheet and spray with cooking spray.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
