Crispy Meat Pies filled with savory ground beef and vegetables.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small potato, diced
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
  2. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
  3. Stir in cold water until dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough briefly and wrap in plastic. Chill for 30 minutes.
  5. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion until browned.
  6. Add potato, carrots, peas, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until vegetables are tender.
  7. Roll out dough and cut circles.
  8. Place filling on half of each circle and fold over. Seal edges.
  9. Heat oil in a pan and fry pies until golden brown.
  10. Drain on paper towels and brush with egg wash.

Notes

  • You can add other vegetables as desired.
  • Make sure the oil is hot before frying.
