Ingredients

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups Panko
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 12 ounces low moisture mozzarella cheese, cut into pieces 3-inch x ¾ inch (or 12 oz string cheese cut in half)
  • Homemade marinara, for dipping
  • 1 quart vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Cut mozzarella cheese into sticks (or use halved string cheese).
  2. Mix flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a shallow bowl.
  3. Beat eggs in another bowl.
  4. Combine Panko and Italian seasoning in a third bowl.
  5. Coat each cheese stick in flour, dip in egg, then roll in Panko mixture.
  6. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry sticks in batches for 30-45 seconds until golden brown.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with marinara sauce.

  • Freeze breaded sticks for 30 minutes before frying for extra crispiness.
