Ingredients

- 1/2 cup shortening regular or butter flavor
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar packed
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cream shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla in a large bowl.
- Beat in the egg.
- Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing well.
- Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until set.
- Let cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- For crispier cookies, bake for an additional 1-2 minutes.
