Delicious Apple Streusel Bread with a crumbly topping.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
- 1 ½ cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour (for streusel)
- ⅓ cup brown sugar packed (for streusel)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for streusel)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter cold and cubed (for streusel)
- ½ cup powdered sugar (optional glaze)
- 1 –2 tablespoons milk or cream (optional glaze)
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture and blend well.
- Stir in sour cream and diced apples.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
- For the streusel, mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
- Sprinkle streusel over the bread batter.
- Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool before adding optional glaze.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
- Use firm apples for best results.
- Adjust sweetness by varying the sugar in the glaze.
