Description

Delicious Apple Caramel Bombs filled with spiced apples and gooey caramel.


Ingredients

  • For the Apple Filling:
  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • For the Dough:
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough or 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
  • 8 soft caramel candies (or 8 teaspoons thick caramel sauce)
  • For Brushing:
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • For the Caramel Glaze:
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and add diced apples.
  3. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and flour. Cook until apples are tender.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. If using biscuit dough, separate into individual biscuits. If using puff pastry, roll it out and cut into squares.
  6. Place a spoonful of apple filling and a caramel candy in the center of each dough piece.
  7. Fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges tightly.
  8. Place the bombs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Mix melted butter, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Brush over the tops of the bombs.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. While baking, mix caramel sauce, heavy cream, and sea salt in a small saucepan over low heat until smooth.
  12. Drizzle the caramel glaze over the warm bombs before serving.
